Character Profile: 1st Engineer Narrah Windarr
Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 01:37PM A quick thinker, naturally curious, scientifically and mechanically gifted and the only real sane voice on the special operations group that Lt. Hasker can completely trust. Not only has Narrah proven her trustworthyness and valor in life as well as battle, she has proven herself to be a woman of firsts.
Narrah Windarr was born on the planet Tarr in the Lacanti System of planets. Narrah is a member of the Vipawa Darr, one of four of the majority black races which inhabit three of the six populated contienents. Narrah's tribe was peaceloving, mostly scholars and individuals of science, medicine and botany. Both of her parents were physicians and were rather dissappointed when Narrah chose to attend the engineering institute as opposed to the medical university.
Narrah was not yet 18 years of age before she endured the citizen's trial, a right of passage reserved mostly for the males in her native tribe. The citizen's trial involved both mental and physical challenges, and Narrah proved herself most capable of enduring the day long event. She was the first woman to succesfully complete the trial and earn the title of Citizen.
It wasnt long before Narrah expressed the desire to spread her wings. There was an multitude of star systems and civilized planets to explore, and the young, adventurous woman wanted to experience her share. Her travels took her to the Siridri system where she joined the United Planetary Alliance's PeaceKeeping Force.
Within six years of joining, Narrah distinguished herself as the most highly advanced member of her Ranger Class.
She also continued her studies while serving as a UPA Ranger and attended Garian's Sciences and Engineering Academy where she took multiple classes in Nanotechnology, Nano-Bacterial Engineering, Metallurgy, Cyborg and Android design and Sentient Hydraulics.
Narrah completed various qualifications and graduated at the top of numerous classes receiving Master's degrees in every discipline she undertook. Job offers from numerous scientific, industrial, and aerospace firms poured in..
And then the uprising on Yeel occurred.
Jerrah's unsanctioned attack on a non UPA member planet drew all of Garian's peacekeeping forces into the struggle. Although urged by her parents to return to Tarr and avoid the unneeded conflict, Narrah was still a Ranger, and she had no desire to shirk her duty. She volunteered for action on Yeel and saw action in two separate battle campaigns where her engineering skills were put to the test.
Her actions in combat bought her to the attention of 1st Lt. Alandra Hasker, who had recently been placed in charge of her own platoon. Years later, when Jerrah had somehow escaped the prison planet of Tyrin, Hasker approached the engineer and asked her to be part of her Speacial Operations Group. Narrah agreed without hesitation and has been a highly valued member of Hasker's team ever since.
The two women have seen more than their share of brutal, unrelenting combat, but Narrah Windarr has pledged her skills, intelligence and spirit toward the defeat of anything or anyone who threatens the stability of her universe or anyone else's.
